When heading out on a guided tour, I like to bring a few extra essentials beyond the typical packing list. These items help make the experience smoother, more comfortable, and more enjoyable. Here are some of my favourites:
Headphones
Whether I’m listening to music or audiobooks, headphones are a must for long drives between stops. Time flies when you’re immersed in a good story or your favourite playlist. I recommend wireless headphones but don’t forget the charging cord and any necessary plug/voltage adapters if you're travelling internationally.
Battery Pack
I love capturing moments with my phone, but that drains the battery fast. A portable battery pack is a lifesaver when I’m out and about. Just be sure to check airline regulations on the maximum size allowed in your carry-on.
Dry Bag
If your tour includes water activities, a dry bag is a must-have to keep your phone or camera safe and dry. It’s lightweight and provides peace of mind during those splashy adventures!
Day Pack
A comfortable day pack is essential for carrying snacks, sunscreen, a water bottle, and anything else you’ll need while out exploring. Look for something lightweight and easy on the shoulders.
Motion Sickness Patch
I often get motion sickness on long drives and boats, and a motion sickness patch is a lifesaver. Make sure to consult with a doctor or pharmacist before using any medicated patches to ensure they’re right for you.
Journal
Guided tours are filled with amazing memories, and I always bring a journal to jot down special moments, thoughts, and experiences I want to remember forever.
Wireless Headphone Headband
If you have a roommate and need white noise to sleep, a wireless headphone headband is perfect. It’s comfortable to wear overnight and helps you drift off peacefully.
Hydration Tablets
Guided tours are very active! To stay hydrated, I like to bring dissolving hydration tablets to add to my water once a day. The orange flavour is my favourite! Please consult with your doctor or pharmacist before consuming anything with medicated ingredients and/or be sure to read the ingredient list in case of allergies.
Money Belt
For peace of mind, I always bring a money belt to keep my valuables safe and close.
These simple items have made my guided tours even more enjoyable. What are your must-bring items?
