Dublin’s Celebrity Hotel Scene

While looking for a place to stay in Dublin after my upcoming conference, I somehow fell into a rabbit hole of glitz and glamour, and discovered just how many stars have checked into Dublin’s top hotels. If you’re thinking about treating yourself to a celebrity-worthy experience, this might be the inspiration you didn’t know you needed.
Let’s take a little tour through the city’s most iconic and celebrity-approved hotels:
The Clarence Hotel
Once owned by U2’s Bono and The Edge, The Clarence is located in the heart of Temple Bar and has long been known for its rock’n’roll history and boutique charm. While the hotel is currently closed for renovations, it has hosted musicians, artists, and trendsetters for decades. When it reopens, it’s sure to draw attention once again as a must-stay for fans of music and Irish cool.
The Westbury
If it's good enough for Taylor Swift, it might just be good enough for the rest of us! The Westbury is part of The Doyle Collection and is known for its elegant, contemporary design and unbeatable location just off Grafton Street. It’s walking distance to Dublin’s best shopping, cafés, and galleries (not to mention it has one of the loveliest afternoon teas in the city).
The Merrion Hotel
This five-star Georgian gem is a favourite among international dignitaries and celebrities alike. Bruce Springsteen has stayed here, and he’s not the only one. The Merrion is known for its serene courtyard gardens, Michelin-starred dining at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, and refined atmosphere. If you're looking for timeless luxury in the heart of Dublin, this is it.
The Fitzwilliam Hotel
Modern, sleek, and perched right at St. Stephen’s Green, The Fitzwilliam blends minimalist design with high-end service. Beyoncé once booked out the entire hotel for a week (as one does), so if you’re hoping to channel your inner Queen Bey, this would be the place. It’s also steps from shopping, theatres, and the LUAS tram line, so you’re well connected without sacrificing style.
The Shelbourne
Possibly Dublin’s most iconic hotel, The Shelbourne has been welcoming guests since 1824. It’s part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection now, but it still has that old-world grandeur with chandeliers, marble staircases, and historical charm. Julia Roberts stayed here back in the '90s, and since then, it has hosted a steady stream of actors, royalty, and presidents. Bonus: the in-house Horseshoe Bar is a cozy spot for a nightcap with a side of history.
But what does a night like this cost?
If you’re dreaming of celebrity-style luxury for spring 2025, be prepared to splurge. At the time of writing this, the average nightly rate for these five-star stays is hovering around $1000 Canadian per night. But hey, memories like these don’t come with a budget line.
If you’ve been thinking about ending your Ireland trip on a high note, why not wrap things up with a stay that makes you feel like a VIP? Whether you’re drawn to sleek modern vibes or historic elegance, I’d be happy to help you book the perfect hotel for your final night in Dublin.
Let me know if you'd like to splurge. I’ve got you covered!
